Hana Yamamoto is an artist, born 1999 in Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan, graduated from Tama Art University in 2022.
She develops conceptual practice based on contemporary photography about intermediary objects and internal and external environments that bring about physical change. In recent years, she has been dealing with themes related to “power” through various means of expression. She incorporates them in a poetic way, triggered by the methods used when adapting the body to an unfamiliar environment, positive action, motivation, boredom, and the failures that accompany it. She produces works that highlight the inner reality of the desire for transformation in everyday life and its reality. Although she has worked primarily with photography, she now works in all media, including video, sculpture, and performance works.
In 2023, she participated as a resident artist in the “Retreat Art Routes” program organized by the BWA Wrocław Galleries of Contemporary Art (Poland). Her Major exhibitions include “Anima in the fog” (WALL_alternative, 2024) and “Encounters in Parallel” (ANB Tokyo, 2021).
She was awarded in the shortlist of "IMA next #3" in 2019. (Judged by Lesley A, Martin). Currently lives and works in Tokyo/Chiba .
